For the Ghana Youth Activity, supported by USAID, IREX is looking for competent Chief of Party (COP) candidates. The Activity will provide rural and urban youth in northern Ghana with a variety of long-term opportunities, resources, and support systems that will help them improve their quality of life, increase their capacity to contribute as productive members of both the economic and social spheres, foster peace, and become active members of their communities. The needs of girls, people with disabilities, and other underprivileged groups will get particular attention throughout the program. The COP, who will be based in Accra, will supervise every area of program execution, giving it direction and making sure that goals are accomplished on schedule and under budget.
- Give the program strategic and technical leadership, along with a thorough vision for transformative outcomes for the three intermediate objectives of the activity: Young people should have more high-quality economic possibilities, prompt, adequate, and suitable health care, and stronger community participation.
- Serve as USAID's primary point of contact and foster effective working relationships with a wide range of critical stakeholders, including government representatives, other donors and program implementers, partners in the corporate and civil sectors, program beneficiaries, and others.
- Build enduring connections with different team members, other IREX leaders, and leaders at important stakeholder and partner organizations via collaboration, support, and mutual respect.
- Make ensure that program activities are carried out as planned, within budget, and in coordination across areas to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manage subgrants, financial management, compliance, and program budgeting and forecasting.
- To ensure that the program adjusts as necessary to achieve its goals and that learning is collected and widely disseminated to enhance effect and sustainability, oversee monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting.
- Oversee and assist in implementing a plan for engaging the private sector.
- Promote an approach to good youth development that is supported by research while including diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout program implementation.
- Lead the recruitment of expert technical employees while supervising, managing, and mentoring program staff.
- Represent IREX in public and aid in the growth of its organization.
- Ensure that all program and staff operations adhere to IREX's safety and security rules and procedures.

Knowledge and Certifications:
- To be able to work in Ghana, one must be a citizen of Ghana or have a residence with a work permit.
- A master's degree in a relevant field, such as business, economics, education, international development, non-profit management, etc.; or a bachelor's degree in a relevant field with at least 10 years of relevant experience; plus at least eight (8) years of relevant experience managing youth-focused programs. A proven track record of successfully overseeing, administering, and carrying out USAID-funded programs and/or other similar donor-funded programming for at least five (5) years, with at least five of those years spent managing projects in Africa.
- Having a leadership style that fosters diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as other proven leadership attributes.
- A track record of assisting young people in their efforts to foster inclusive economic growth and/or advance good governance in their communities.
- An established coaching and mentoring approach to management and leadership to foster successful teamwork and the development of the program leadership team's members.
- Excellent organizational, managerial, communication, and representational abilities.
- Show the ability to build connections that are courteous, helpful, and collaborative with other diverse adult and young leaders.
- Show an entrepreneurial attitude and the ability to plan strategically and creatively with an emphasis on innovation in order to fulfill program objectives.
- The capacity to forge effective working connections with high-ranking government representatives, youth-led groups, civil society organizations, international funders, and other stakeholders.
- English language proficiency in both written and spoken form; knowledge of regional Ghanaian languages is encouraged.
